Alchemy started out as a small family market stall and has since grown into a much-loved brand with their range of botanical syrups, elixirs, chai, and natural drinks. For nearly 25 years Alchemy has been reimagining the way people experience drinks, and they continuing to innovate and inspire in cafés, homes, and hospitality venues across Australia and around the world.
Behind the brand
As a child, Michael Bishop used to dream of being Willy Wonka when he grew up. From being on a chair helping his mum in the baking of chocolate cake to fine dining and cocktail bars, flavour has always been the driving force of everything he did.
Alchemy began after he sampled a friend’s homemade chilli cordial and realised that they needed to make more of it. With no background in business or drinks, the learning curve was steep but exciting. They started with cordials, then quickly moved on to create Australia’s first coffee syrups and chai concentrates, which opened the door to the café world. Now Alchemy supplies cafés worldwide with healthy, plant-based beverages carefully crafted for taste. For Michael, business is about fun, imagination, and flavour, and Alchemy is his passion and his art!
